The winter ski season is far too short to develop the technique, strength & conditioning necessary to compete at a high level – summer training is the most important aspect of a nordic development program. Our 2013 summer program begins on Tuesday, June 11 and will run for 9 weeks. The last practice of the summer will be on Saturday, August 10th.
3GNordic offers the following practices each week and allows you the flexibility to pick a program that fits your schedule:
We will meet from 5:30 to 7:15 at or near Hyland Park in Bloomington. Tuesdays will usually be a rollerski workout. We will incorporate both skate and classical work throughout the summer. Our rollerski workouts will mix technique work with video analysis, conditioning, and ski specific strength.
We will meet from 5:30 to 7:15 at or near Hyland Park in Bloomington. Thursdays will usually be a dryland workout with an intensity focus. Expect a combination of hills, circuits, strength, etc…
Every Saturday morning we will meet for a long, endurance building rollerski. Practice starts at 9:00 a.m. and will go for 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the goals for that week. You will get a chance to experience a variety of different rollerski trails throughout the Metro Area. Most of the locations will be in Minneapolis. There will be a technique focus on these slow, continuos rollerskis.
The program charges based on the number of days you plan to ski with us each week. Each week, you can choose whichever day(s) work best with your schedule that week – it is okay to change which day(s) you attend on a week-to-week basis.

Customized Daily Individual Training Plan
Looking for something different? This option is designed for those who cannot commit to regularly scheduled practice through the summer but would still like a guide to follow for their nordic training.
With the election of this option you will sit down with Coach Alex in April or early May to start planning out your year. You’ll talk in detail about the goals you have, the other sports you are involved in, and your training preferences. Alex will take copious notes and within 2 weeks will be ready to meet with you again. You’ll go through a day-by-day training program, customized just for you. The plan will progress towards your goals, incorporating your other activities, and will work around your summer vacation schedule. You’ll go through the whole plan with Alex at this second meeting to make sure you understand the specific workouts prescribed for each day.
This option works great for self-starting athletes who may prefer to train alone, or who have other commitments that don’t allow them to attend the regular group sessions. It works most effectively with athletes who are experienced skiers as you don’t have the benefit of regular time with a coach. In the past, people have complimented this option with 1-3 private lessons throughout the course of the summer.
The cost for this option is $150.00.
3G Athletes will need to be able to run and rollerski. Helmets are required at all rollerski workouts. Rental Rollerskis are Available at a cost of $75 for the summer and are distributed on a first come, first served basis. You can opt to keep them through the fall as well for an additional $50.
